With the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approving a resolution today granting President Obama authority to launch a military strike on Syria to deter the further use of chemical weapons against civilians, sources in Damascus report that strongman Bashar al-Assad’s regime is busy moving equipment and files out of military and security installation and into the city’s school houses. The Washington-based Syrian Support Group quotes sources as saying that the regime is rapidly moving materiel into as many as 13 of the capitol’s schools. “We’re getting word that the Assad regime is moving troops and equipment from military installations into schools and civilian homes so that they can’t be targeted without killing civilians,” said Dan Layman, a spokesman for the Syrian Support Group, which backs the Syrian rebels.
